1) Get your Box Tops and other labels in.
2) Teacher Breakfast on Friday 12/18 @ 9am. contact your teacher if you are able to come to the classroom while the teacher goes to this PTO breakfast.
3) Kindergarten Christmas Program @6pm Tuesday 12/15th
4) PTO meeting 7pm Tuesday 12/15th

I am not sure how many have heard, but my husband resigned from his company last week and it is a blessing. I am thankful that he is home more and spends time with us, but I find myself with less time for this stuff. I apologize for that.

There are many updates: I am getting us registered for Coke Points. These are points we get when you enter the codes on the boxes or on the lids of Coke Products. I checked and Central MS & HS are registered. The HS has 1077 points, and the MS has 2770 points. This doesn't sound like much, but if we keep entering codes, we will get some great art/gym stuff.

There will be another Publix Coupon Class! One of our Jerger Moms has found a place for us to have it. I just have to set a date and I believe we will do it in January. Keep checking back!

The Box Tops contest ends on the 18th... that's next week. With everything going on next week, please remember to send in your Box Tops. We will do the parties when we get back from the Christmas Break.

We are collecting: Campbell's soup labels, V8 Juice labels, Sunny D labels, Coke Points, Community Coffee labels and Capri Sun pouches.

We have been collecting Harvey's Key Card numbers and now have 150 ppl signed up!!

Cell Phone and Ink/Toner Cartridge Collection: We collect these items and get some money back when we mail them into a collection company. I spoke with Cleaver Brooks and they are saving these items for us.
Check with your company to see if they can save them for us. Shoot me a note so we can all get excited.

Jerger Mom Update

A lot has been happening at my house that has kept me from keeping everyone else up to date with Box Tops and other fundraising news.
I am back to this and I wanted to thank everyone for their patience.
The contest that ended on November 15th is for cookie parties. The classes that won are: Holland, Felts, Lilly, Smith, Henderson, Lumpkin and Mrs. Tabb.

Today I dropped off cookies to Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Lumpkin. On Wednesday, Mrs. Lilly's class, Thursday: Mrs. Holland's class and on Friday, Mrs. Henderson and Mrs. Tabb's classes.

The next contest: December 15th. Another cookie party, but I will need help with this one. I cannot be at the school for any of these. I will make all of the cookies in advance, but I will need someone to deliver them on the last Friday before school gets out.

Harveys; Remember seeing me out side collecting Harvey's numbers? another Jerger Mom was out with me, SaraBeth Pomeroy that day and so far we have 101 parents signed up. If you'd like to help Jerger School please send your Harvey's card number into school. The teachers will put that information in my Box Top Box and I will get you signed up. Every time you shop at Harvey's - Remember you are helping Harvey's donate to Jerger.

On Saturday December 5th, the THS Tennis Team is having a "Tennis Day" for children ages 4-12. Look for the handout that came home today. If you have any questions, shoot me a note.

Tuesday December 15th is the PTO meeting (following the Kindergarten program) and we need you there!

5) On Monday and Tuesday of next week, I will be out in the parking lot(s) with some volunteers asking for Harvey's Key Card Numbers. I have posters made up that we will have out on Thursday and Friday. Your help will be appreciated. We only have 37 people signed up. Easy way to earn money for the school.

6) Next Contest: November 16 thru December 15th... Sugar Cookies again. This time Christmas theme.

I wanted to thank you for all of your support. I have sent in the Sunny D labels- We earned 60 books that we will split up. 60 books from a few labels... thank you!!!

I have been collecting the soup labels too... keep them coming.

Mrs. Mims is collecting CapriSun juice pouches. She is saving her own as well as from the Art Program after school. If you have any juice pouches, please put them in a CLOSED zip lock bag put it in the Box Top box and I will make sure she gets it. She will submit these to TerraCycle to earn money for the school.

I have talked with Cleaver-Brooks and they will save their ink/toner cartridges and old cell phones for us. The HR director there said his daughter's school used to have a lot of the area businesses saving the cartridges for them and they were able to earn enough each year for the following year's supplies (paper, pencils, tape, etc.) The entire year's worth!!! If you are friends of a business owner please consider asking what they do with their ink/toner cartridges.

I have really enjoyed doing all of this and I hope to get the volunteer information from you so I can enlist some help (anyone want to decorate cookies?) for all of my projects.

Anyway, here is a great article to remind everyone that the school values everyone's involvement!

Room parenting and the working mom?

You don't have to stay at home in order to be involved in your child's classroom

School is starting and the teacher is asking for room parent volunteers. You would like to play a bigger role in your child’s classroom, but it just doesn’t seem possible. Well, you can.

In fact, working moms make great room parents. A room parent is a facilitator, someone who takes on a lot of little projects, delegates and manages them. As a working mom, these are skills you use every day just to survive home and work. Tap into these skills as a room parent.

There are a lot of great articles on room parenting – but often, those suggestions require more face-time commitment than most full-time working moms have. But the principles behind these articles can be applied and modified for the working mom. I’m not going to fool you – it’s not a walk in the park, but it is do-able and worth the effort.

If you are up for the challenge, here are some tried and true tips on how you can be an effective working mom room parent and live to talk about it!

1.) Recruit a co-room parent. This could be another working mom or a stay-at-home mom. Having co-room parents make it easier to stay on top of classroom events and to cover for you in the event of a sudden meeting or business trip. Split up the responsibilities between the two of you. Your co-room parent could be responsible for the communication with the teacher and you could be responsible for planning events and creating sign-up sheets.

2.) Get your classroom online ASAP. Use new startup group services (Qlubb, Bigtent, Convos, Center'd) as your third co-room parent. By putting events, sign-up sheets, rosters online, you significantly reduce the need to communicate and remind parents of events and volunteering opportunities.

3.) Ask for help from other parents. Parents actually like to help -- most just want to know specifically help. In your introductory email, solicit skills and interests from the parent body. Some responsibilities that can be easily delegated to other parents include -- class photographer, class treasurer, book club manager (e.g. monthly scholastic book club), recess coordinator. Have everyone coordinate the respective activities on the classroom group site.

4.) Make an effort to attend outside-of-the-classroom events like birthday parties and playdates. Part of being a room parent is being in touch with what is going on among the families. So, if you cannot participate in the post-drop off coffee talks, make an effort to attend as many weekend birthday parties and playdates -- so that parents get to know you and feel comfortable working with you.

No Mother Left Behind

For years, my answer has been no. No, no, no, no, no.

I’ve refused to accept the offers of being a room mom for any of my three kids’ classrooms. Even as an unpublished, unpaid writer, I managed to create crafty excuses that sounded reasonable and truthful.

"You must be starting at the end of the alphabet and working your way up, right?"

"You can’t be that desperate now, can you?"

"Trust me. I’m exactly the kind of mother no mother wants to have as a room mom for her kid’s class."

"I’m one of those people who knows her limitations," and what I mean by "no" is that I’m severely limited when it comes to being responsible for a class worth of moms.

Of course, these responses failed to reflect the reality that I saw: I would be an inferior room mother. I didn’t think I had the chops, or Palm Pilot skills to go to the head of the classroom’s other mothers. Chief Moms in Charge don’t have messy desks – like me. And quintessential room moms don’t look anything like me: they don’t go out without makeup, they never wear sweats except to visit their personal trainer, and they know how to be nice, all the time, to everyone, even if they missed the field trip bus or forgot to send in the classroom snack, several times in a row after receiving reminders.

No, my vision of a room mom produced a woman who knew how to get things done, liked responsibility and could dip enough pretzel rods to feed a class of 20 in 10 minutes. Meanwhile, my vision of me produced an image of a woman at a loss, incapable of even remembering to buy the pretzel rods in the first place.
After a few years of this negativism, however, I eventually wore down. Specifically, my answer began to change when my friends started to accept room mom appointments. Then, they would call and beg and plead with me to be a co-room mom with them. And then, when they graduated to being the room mom coordinator for a grade, they would ask me to be the top room mom for a class.

And it wasn’t so bad. The responsibilities forced me out of the house and into communications with other room mothers, something I had resisted doing at first, for fear I would turn into "one of them." I know that sounds derogatory, but I am grateful. It’s more that I’ve never pictured myself on the same height pedestal as room moms.

Another benefit is that I get to spend more time with my kids and learn about their teachers and what goes on in the classroom.

In fact, as my kids get older, I’ve learned that the only way to see what is happening in the classroom is to be a room mom because in the upper grades, you’re only allowed in when you can help on Staff Appreciation Day.

Another benefit of being a room mom is that you get priority. Nights of open house? You have to arrive early, but that means you get a good parking space. You also gain access to the conference sign-up sheets faster. You don’t know the value of a preemptive strike until you’ve shoved and shouldered your way through a crowd of PDA-carrying parents who want to go Playhouse Square outings or Goodtime III boat rides.
But, sigh, as room mom, you often must put others before yourself.

Last week, I struggled to assign parents to each of four field trips, as chaperones. Some parents signed up for every trip, some parents signed up for only one trip, and many parents didn’t sign up for anything. In the end, the ones I most appreciated were those who didn’t sign up for any trip because, as it was, I felt like I was solving a Mensa-level brainteaser: Two parents must attend Trip 1. Parents A, B and C all want to go. But, Parent B won’t go if Parent C goes, Parent A will only go if Parent B goes and Parent C is unavailable for any other trips. Which two parents should you pick to chaperone Trip 1?

Trust me, the day Ohio requires me to pass a room mother proficiency exam, I’m answering "no" again.

Popsicle Parties

Today I dropped off ten boxes of popsicles for the classes to enjoy. I left them in the cafeteria freezer, but only half of the classes were able to enjoy their treat today. I did not realize there was an assembly for the QSP.

Thank you to the parents who helped with the Box Tops! We will be collecting from now on, so keep saving, and if your childs class didn't win the last one, they may win the next one.

BONUS BOX TOPS:
I did a tally of how many students gave Box Tops in the last competition - 117 students out of 750. WOW. Those 117 students raised $425. If we could get half of the students to help out, imagine what we could do!!

The classes that won were primarily leading their grade because of Bonus Box Tops. These are given by the various stores as a reward for purchasing certain items. If you look at the column to the right, it explains how to earn bonus Box Tops at each store or website. This is how you can gain the advantage in the contests (and the school).

Harvey's has a great offer - 170 bonus Box Tops for buying 20 Box Top items. The only problem is the items are not on sale. I don't recommend purchasing 20 of anything unless it's on-sale AND you have coupons. This will only benefit the school and your family if you are able to spend less and donate more.

I do not recommend buying items just to get the bonus. The school would be better off with your cash if you feel the need to part with it. And the school actually has ways you can help... QSP the magazine sale, Thanks cards are still available, School Pictures are available (re-takes on Sept 28th btw), and the most important opportunity that involves no cash - is to volunteer some time.

BTW: if you are wondering how my couponing is going I thought you might enjoy this... I just spent $154 at Publix, saved $90. I did terrible this past week. I had not cut or sorted any coupons since August 16th and I have not done any major shopping since then either. All I have been doing is Box Tops. That has become my full time job - one I love and hope will make a difference.

So I cut and sorted all of my coupons, tried to get ready for this weeks sale but I really enjoy the Box Tops and other collections. If you do have any questions or need help with couponing, please let me know. I'd love to help you get it all straight. Remember: make sure you get every paper and you will be ready for the sales. Not getting the paper is what makes it harder to coupon.

Hey Everyone!
I cannot tell you how my head is spinning. I just signed us up for some other programs: Subway, VerizonWireless, FootLocker, Travelocity and 1-800-Flowers.

It's not like we are collecting enough stuff, but these are VERY COOL!
Subway: Purchase a GCard that you use for your meals - pre-paying for your lunches allows the schools to keep a % of the GC. Cards are reloadable and continue to be tied to our school.

VerizonWireless: If you sign up for a new account OR Renew your existing account, we get $. New plans can bring the school $37.50. The options are sooo tremendous. I think they are only good when purchased or set up online, but I am checking into that.

FootLocker: We will get Key Cards to use on any purchases at their stores or their sister-stores.

Travelocity: If you book a trip through them and select our school for the rewards program, we will get 2.5% of your purchase - consider a family trip, air, hotel, car!! This could be a good one!

1-800-Flowers - I think this one is 8% of your purchase. I have family that live out of town and I order through this place anyway when I want to send flowers. How cool that my $50 order will net the school $4. yeah.

These are just other examples of how making small changes in HOW we purchase items, allows us to get our stuff and tell the companies where we'd like them to donate the profits.

Anyway, these programs will send the school a check periodically. I LOVE FREE MONEY!!!

A great classroom...a better education!

This program is from Box Tops For Education and is new. Because it's new, it's not familiar to a lot of the teachers as well as the families collecting Box Tops. I want to promote this program this year. Why?

Who struggles with what to get for the teacher, that the teacher would like? I do every year. I hate buying gifts that teachers may or may not use. Ask any teacher how many "teacher" gifts they have on their Christmas Tree?

My Class Essentials (MCE) is a Teacher Registry. The products are classroom specific and from the comments from other coordinators, the prices aren't out of line with the regular teaching supply places.

How it works: Teachers register for items they would like. Parents or other supporters view the registry and either purchase items or put a dollar amount towards the teacher's account for them to purchase what they want.

We benefit because 2% of the purchases go towards the BTFE account. That means we will earn money off of the purchase, the teacher gets something needed and we all feel good about contributing something useful towards our child's education. LOVE IT!!

Imagine a room mom calling each parent asking them to contribute $10.00. That pooling of everyone's gift money can really help out the teacher. I encourage everyone to really think about this - when times are tight, we need to work together!

We have some great parents! We have great parents, teachers and kids. We are a great school. I really appreciate everyone's help with this new program.

Our school collected 4,250 Box Tops!!!!

That is amazing. That is $425.00 cash. WOW! Just for ripping off the Box Tops. I know some of you made special purchases, and we appreciate it. But it is not necessary... just watch and save the coupons, match the coupons with the sale items (don't forget competitor coupons, double coupons etc) and you will soon find yourself spending less and able to donate more (in the form of labels or Box Tops).

We also collected several Sunny D labels, Campbell Soup (Pepperidge Farm cookies & Crackers count too!) Labels, Tyson Chicken Labels and Community Coffee UPC's.

What was the major deciding factor that pushed the winning classrooms to the winning spot? BONUS BOX TOPS. The ones from Harvey's. 170 bonus this month. Keep watching my posts for the sale items that will give you the most products for the money. The goal is to save money, not spend it!!

Thank You!!! I have been counting for several days, pulling out the expired Box Tops and weeding out the Box Tops that had the expiration date CUT OFF. Those are not valid. Sorry. We could have had a lot more, but ... some were expired, some were cut wrong and others were not really Box Tops.

I have been so excited I cannot even explain it. This weekend, I will do a summary post on all of the programs available.

Lysol Healthy Rewards Program

OK, I am nuts. I know, I know! I came on-line to update everyone about the Box Tops Contest, and I found this other program: Scholastic & Lysol

This program runs from August 1st through January 30, 2010. What we have to do: Save any receipt (go back and look at past receipts) that has a purchase of any Lysol product. Circle that product and turn it into the school. That's it.

What do we get out of it? They are giving away Classroom book sets (500 of them) of 10 books for 15 products purchased,
100 - $75 gift codes for the teachers to use on Scholastic.com for 10 products purchased.
75 Gift packs (books, DVD player, Digital Camera/Printer) worth $175 for 50 products
And the grand prize drawing... all entries are eligible.

If you go to the site and participate in the Parent Survey, you could have a free book shipped to you. I did the survey and got a note saying I would receive my book in 6-8 weeks. Yeah!

Gotta love free gifts for buying things we are already buying... Couponers... I expect to see some awesome receipts!

It's been a while...

Sorry I haven't written in a while. Between the normal family life, sinus headaches and counting Box Tops, I have not had time to write.

The Harvey's ad doesn't provide much in the way of items on sale that will generate the Bonus Box Tops. I will keep my fingers crossed for next week.

As I counted the Box Tops I noticed a few things:
1) A lot of the Box Tops were expired. I am sorry, but those will not count for the total submitted.
2) A lot of the Box Tops were missing the expiration date. Those are not allowed either. Each Box Top must have a valid Expiration date showing on the Box Top.
3) The Bonus Box Tops made a HUGE difference in the classroom totals.

I wanted to also say thank you to the parents who submitted the Sunny D labels. Ask the teachers how many they have collected. Remember - we only need 20 for each classroom to get the free books!

The new Box Top contest will run from September 16th thru October 15th. Don't think it's over! We are going to collect these things forever!

Sunny D Book Spree

Found another fundraiser for the classes!

This one is valid from now until November 14th. It isn't a contest there is no registration, and no tracking, but it would be fun to see how many classes can get in on the promotion.

Sunny Delight is giving away 20 books for EACH classroom. We need to collect 20 UPC codes from various Sunny-D bottles. Individual or snack size are not included.

The entry is done by the teacher, on-line, and we mail in the UPC's. This is awesome. It's good for grades thru 6th. So every class in Jerger qualifies!

If every one can get one UPC between now and November 1st we should be able to get 20 books for every class. If you drink a lot of this, please send in the extras. We can send them to a class that doesn't drink Sunny D as much.

Great Weekend!

I went to Rochester NY this past weekend to help my Grandmother and attend a family reunion. The last Family Reunion for this family was in 1922!!
It was great to MEET my relatives. See my cousins and learn about my family.

I also checked out the local Grocers! Wegmans is the "publix" of Rochester, followed by Tops - what we would consider Harvey's.

NO COUPONS! I did, I walked through 10 different stores and not one Peelie, no Blinkies, No hang tags. No handouts, No nothing. I couldn't believe it.

So I went to the service desk to ask where they have those types of coupons. The response was - Coupons? Really? Coupons for what?

I really was in a grocery store. We are soo lucky! I was so thankful for Publix, Harveys and all of the other great stores we get great deals at!

Oh Yea, no Bonus Box Tops offered either. Can you imagine living there? The more I get into saving money with coupons, sales, timing and getting stuff for the school, the more I really appreciate the opportunities here in Thomasville.

Box Tops Collection Sheets

I have provided the collection sheets to each of the children at the school. This is one way for us to collect the little Box Tops without losing them. The other advantage is each sheet has a certain number of Box Tops to collect. The ones I handed out have room for 25 Box Tops. So four sheets are 100 Box Tops - much easier to count the group than 100 individual Box Tops in a baggie.

I will count them if they are in baggies, boxes, envelopes or glued onto sheets. So don't worry about having the right collection sheet.

I have also made a collection sheet for 50 Box Tops. That's $5 on one sheet. I made that sheet GOLD, just so we can get all excited about such a huge collection from a child. They should be proud of that, and the gold really stands out!

I looked on the BTFE website and I did not see the sheets available on the parent side. I talked with Mrs. Chavaux and we will get some variety of sheets on our school website, but not until next week at the earliest.

In the meantime, if you need extra sheets, there are extras in the office that anyone can pick up.

I stopped at Harvey's today (Wednesday Sale) and asked the manager about the Box Tops promotion.

He said they have not participated in the past, and this was the first one. He has not heard that there are size limits to the products and he is excited to help Jerger and the other city schools earn free stuff.

I asked about the Key Cards and he said he would be happy to help get people signed up. He will also allow us to get some forms for our next Coupon Class (September 15th - will have more details next week, just save the date!).

I spoke to half of the classes on Friday and need to talk with the others today.

I took my kids into school and to their classrooms... funny thing, every child is so excited about the whole contest that they are stopping me to tell me how much they have collected this weekend. They all commented on what their moms are doing to help.

Congratulations to the moms (and dads)! I can't do this without you and I appreciate your support with this project.

Today, I went to the btfe website, but it seems to be down for maintenance. I'll keep you posted, but I am hoping it will have all of the bugs corrected when it's back up.

The kids are PSYCHED

I went to the school today and hit half of the classrooms. I am sorry if your child did not come home with the Newsletter and collection sheets. I will visit the rest of the rooms on Monday.

The classes I did see, are excited and ready to get the most BOX TOPS. They were told they had to ask their parents before they start cutting packages.

Box Tops is an ongoing collection. There will be contests through-out the year and we will start the new school year with another contest - so collect them continuously!

Remember to ask friends, relatives and neighbors for their Box Tops. Keep checking the website for promotions, questions and updates to what is going on in the Fundraising world.

I will be talking at the PTO meeting on Tuesday, September 1st. Friday the Papers Come Home

Friday is the day I will be going to each of the classrooms and get the kids excited about BOX TOPS.

I will be handing out the newsletter as well as a collection sheet. The newsletter will have the information about this blog. I hope the blog is helpful for finding ways to help that don't really impact the family budget.

Signing up at Box Tops (www.btfe.com) is a little messy right now. On the home page, please go right to "THE BIG CLIP" contest. Fill out the form, select Jerger school and you are registered.

Currently that is the only way to sign up for "Jerger" on the site. After you are signed up, played the BIG CLIP, you can do the other two games for chances to win stuff and bonus Box Tops for the school. Check out the columns to the right ==> and see what other opportunities there are to earn extra points.

A teacher came up to me today and asked about this program. She signed up and wanted to make sure her purchase was applied to our school. YEAH! We really appreciate this effort she went through for purchases she was making anyway!

Just had the coupon class and I was thrilled with the media center at Jerger school. The equipment was very cool!
Then Wendy hit a cord and it all turned off, not all went back on. But it was still cool.

Anyway, it was a lot of information and people asked a lot of good questions... I told people I will answer them here.

- was about the Target card... (how do we know the new card is actually set up to contribute to Jerger)

- One was about the Harvey's card (couldn't select school)

- A question about the match-ups.

Remember - Go to the savings sites I have posted to the Right (middle column). They have the lists, they do the work, you just collect coupons!!!

I will follow-up with the answers to the questions tomorrow.

The Thomasville City Schools are selling Thanks Cards for $5.

They have promotional discounts for the local stores on a little credit card sized "card".

The orders were due last Friday, but I did not get my order in and my husband was a little miffed because we use the Papa John's discount all of the time.

So I called the school and here's the story... the contest ended on Friday. So if students were selling cards to collect prizes, the orders had to be in then.

For the rest of us, who just want a good deal at our local stores, we can get them at any time! We order 2 - one for each car so we can get pizza anytime!

So call the school, or send an e-mail to jergerelementary@live.com and we will be sure you get your card!

The old ones expire August 31st, so get your card quick!

Sweepstakes Promotion

I have been entering the Sweepstakes that are posted to the right....
The Big Clip, Rite Aid, Family Dollar as well as two other ones on the BTFE website: Betty Crocker and the Toaster Strudel.

Each promotion offers varying amounts of Box Tops to the winner as well as some other prizes... food, computers, etc.

I wanted to let you know that I have entered each of these contests every day for 2 weeks and I have not received any SPAM or other promotional e-mails from the sponsors. I receive one e-mail each week reminding me to enter the Big Clip.

Each contest can be entered every day, so when I enter one, I just run through the list and enter them all.

I thought I would let you know that you will not receive any extra unwanted e-mail for entering the contests, so GO ENTER!!! We may win something!!

Book Fair at Jerger

Next week, Tuesday thru Friday, September 1st through September 4th.

The classes will get to preview the sale and make lists of their favorite items.

The parents are able to come in anytime during school to check out the book fair!

PTO meeting is Tuesday September 1st at 7pm. The book fair will be open until the meeting starts - for people who cannot make it during the day.

Hopefully we will see you at the PTO... btw: I will be presenting my Box Tops program then. Wish me luck!!!

The Jerger School Website

I am so excited... We just got clearance from the City School system to have my website linked to the Jerger School website. YEAH!

In case anyone is wondering why I have not sent home my newsletter yet, I want to wait until the BTFE.com website has us listed as a school of choice when parents try to sign up.

I am very frustrated and not sure when it will be resolved, but I am trying! As soon as it is resolved, I will be going to each classroom, getting everyone excited, handing out the newsletter and the program is officially started.

sigh. I hate to wait!

I tried the site again, and we are still not on the list.

If you, as parents, would like to sign up for BTFE, there is a way to do that.

The contest "The Big Clip" will allow users to sign up and on that menu, our school (Jerger) is on the list.

So - kill two birds with one stone. Sign up for the contest, enter your e-mail, select the school and now you are registered for the entire site.

Sorry for this issue... I am not sure why it's not working properly on the front end, but everything else is working great!

It seems that people who want to leave comments on my site, will need to have an account set up with G-Mail, Blogger or Google.

I have tried to set it up where anyone can leave comments, but it's not accepting comments unless you have an account. I had two testers try it, and I'm not sure how to correct it.

Publix Return To School Promotion

The first contest of the year ends on September 15th. The kids will be bringing home the information on Monday.

Look in your pantries, cupboards and wherever you store dry boxed goods. There is a special label on the front of some of the Box Top's dry items. When you peel the little label off (like a coupon)that has a code on it.

The contest for that little label ends October 31st. That means we need to get those codes entered online or turned in to the school, or mailed into the address on the label by October 15th.

I entered my labels into the www.clickcallmail.com website and earned a bonus of 100 Box Tops for Jerger - $10.00.

If you don't want to deal with them, turn them in to the school and I will get it taken care of!

Coupon Class August 27th 4pm

On Thursday August 27th, we are going to hold a coupon class at Jerger School at 4pm.
The cost is $10 per person.

We will cover how to shop the sales, how to collect coupons, when to use your coupons, stacking coupons, competitor coupons, store policies, coupon etiquette and how to reduce your over all spending on things your family needs.

If you were at the last coupon class and feel overwhelmed, please let me know and we can work together. It takes a bit of time, but it is so worth it in the end!

Encourage your friends to save their coupons for you, or for themselves and bring them along to the class!!!

RiteAid Sweepstakes

I went into www.riteaid.com tonight, first time. I am a slacker... I need to do this every day, but it gets a little busy.

Anyway, the directions say to go to the website and look for the banner... it's not on the home page. You need to go to {Unadvertised Specials} on the left side.
When the page comes up, scroll down and press the banner.

It will ask you to register again... even if you have already registered with Box Tops, this promotion is different. Go ahead and register. You can enter it every day!

Box Tops Website Update

I called Customer Service again this morning and not all of the technical glitches have been resolved. I was told that the only issues they are having is with the newly registered schools.

Here is a work around until the proper registration process is fixed.

1) Go to www.btfe.com
2) Select [Bonus Offers] from the top tabs
3) Select {The Big Click}
4) Register for the Big Click
5) done.

Now you are registered with a log in, password and will receive updates via e-mail (once per week).

Jerger gets 5 box top points when you register! Thank you for your patience!

Harvey's Correction

I went to Harvey's today and picked up the Hamburger Helper... It was $1/box. I gave the cashier my coupon for $.75/3. I bought 6 boxes, excited to get the 20 Bonus Box Tops (BBT's). I left the store, talked with the teachers (thank you for having me!) and realized I did not get my BBT's.
When I got home I called the toll free customer care number on the receipt... No, my purchase did not qualify for the BBT's. I needed to purchase 5 "PARTICIPATING" items.
GM Cereals are included as well as fruit snacks. The items change monthly as does the amount of BBT's given.
All purchases need to be made on one receipt to qualify. DANG!

Box Tops for Education Website

The BTFE website does not have our school listed. A parent called me to ask what she was doing wrong... Nothing wrong, it's not listed.

I called BTFE and they said they would try to have it fixed by Friday.

I checked out the Box Tops 4 Education website and found there are a lot of ways to earn BONUS boxtops. I put information about all of those extra ways, on the Right side bar. Check them out.

It is recommended that you save your receipts for 3 months in case contests come up that require proof of purchase and your receipt. Not that we need them for Box Tops but for other sweepstakes, contests, or promotions, they are sometimes needed.

Anyway, check out the websites on the post-it's above and get familiar with the products, or promotions so you can be on the look-out for ways to earn for the school.

Hi everyone,
This month's yellow flyer for Publix offers a great coupon for $1.00 off Tyson Chicken. These labels are worth approx. a quarter, so this is a great opportunity.

Use the Publix coupon with the manufacturer's and you get double savings. Save the label and send it to school!!!

Also, Campbell Soups are 10 for 10 and we are collecting those labels as well.

Hey Everyone!

I wanted to find a way to introduce myself to everyone else at Jerger Elementary. My name is Rhonda Beine and I am the Box Top mom. I will be collecting, counting, sorting, mailing and talking about Box Tops.

The Box Tops for Education program started and run by General Mills is over 10 years old and has donated thousands of dollars to schools across the country. I believe Jerger has a great opportunity to get some money in a fundraising effort that doesn't cost the families anything!!!

Each Box Top is worth $.10. It doesn't seem like a lot, but if we get 500 families saving 10 each month for a year.... That's $6,000. It's a no-brainer! This is one of the best things we can do to help teachers, the school and the students.

Please check out the Box Tops website and sign up! This is important because the website also offers other opportunities to earn BONUS BOXTOPS.

There are currently 3 bonus opportunities. A friend of mine was the Box Top coordinator in Wisconsin and one of her parents won a contest that gave the school $1,000 worth of Box Tops! It is worth our time.

Another reason for doing this blog is to find and discuss other fundraising opportunities that don't cost families anything. Kind of like getting corporate sponsorship for our school.

Tyson Chicken has a collection fundraiser similar to the Box Tops program. It is called Project A+. Collect the labels and each one is worth $.24. That could add up quickly. I will also collect these labels. If Publix has sales on these items, I will let you know.

Campbell's Soup offers a nickel for each of their soup labels. We will also collect those items.

I would like to keep updated numbers on this site to show each of you how every little bit adds up.

Collecting items:

Box Tops will be collected in the classroom. There will be contests and prizes throughout the year. Bring them in baggies or glued onto the collection sheets at the school. EACH BOX TOP MUST HAVE THE EXPIRATION DATE OR IT IS VOID.

I will collect the other items (Tyson Chicken labels and the Campbell's soup labels) in baggies.
I am not sure about the contests, I will see how many we collect in the first month or two. I am thinking about a contest for these items sometime around Christmas.

Prizes:

I will be supplying some of the prizes initially, but if you have access to anything we could use let me know. Items that have worked in other school contests: Webkinz or similar "in" toy, Pizza Party, Ice Cream party, Vote for Principle of the day (using boxtops for each vote).

I was thinking of maybe doing a tour at a local business, work with a teacher-principle-lunchroom person for an hour. Let's get creative!
